The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Centerat North Carolina Specialty Hospital has just been named a Center of Distinction by Healogics for excellence in outcomes and patient satisfaction. The Wound Care Center is collaboratively managed by Triangle Orthopaedic Associates, P.A., North Carolina Specialty Hospital, and Helaogics, Inc. and staffed by Surgeon Dr. Woody Burns and interventional radiologist Dr. Sue Weeks.
The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center was only one of seventeen Healogic facilities in North Carolina to receive this honor, and the only one serving Durham patients and surrounding areas of Raleigh and Chapel Hill. Criteria for this distinction included outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal. At the Wound Care Center, each comprehensive treatment plan is coordinated to provide maximal healing in minimal time to allow the patient to return to normal activities as soon as possible.
As an outpatient clinic of North Carolina Specialty Hospital, The Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds. The Center uses an interdisciplinary model of care, including infectious-diseasee management, physical therapy, occupational therapy, laboratory evaluation, nutritional management, pain management, diabetic education, radiology testing, and debridement to address total patient health.
